自己紹介でも先生ご自身が仰っているとおり、ほんとに何に対しても興味をもって接してくださる先生です。面白いと思う人のほうが少ない私の修論の話を前のめりに聞いてくださって、ありがとうございました。色々と質問を頂いて楽しかった反面、自分でも話を繋げる瞬発力を上げる努力をしようと感じ、ますます頑張ろうと思いました。

Divertido/a Gentil Comunicativo

Nathan先生のレッスンは２回目でまだよく先生のことを知らないので４５分間会話が続くかしらと思っていました。でも始まってみれば天候の話から始まり、もう何度も話をしたことがあるかのようにテンポよく色々な話題で会話ができました。先生がお住いのシカゴの話（私にとっては「ＥＲ」が撮影された都市）スポーツ、snail mail vs e-mail, 先生が赴任される予定の学校の話、physical books vs e-books、児童文学の挿絵の変化、文学を専攻して教えてもいらっしゃる先生に比べて知識が遙かに少ないのですが、先生は今回もお勧めの作品を紹介してくださいました。語彙と集中力のなさから読む...

Nathan先生のレッスンは２回目でまだよく先生のことを知らないので４５分間会話が続くかしらと思っていました。でも始まってみれば天候の話から始まり、もう何度も話をしたことがあるかのようにテンポよく色々な話題で会話ができました。先生がお住いのシカゴの話（私にとっては「ＥＲ」が撮影された都市）スポーツ、snail mail vs e-mail, 先生が赴任される予定の学校の話、physical books vs e-books、児童文学の挿絵の変化、文学を専攻して教えてもいらっしゃる先生に比べて知識が遙かに少ないのですが、先生は今回もお勧めの作品を紹介してくださいました。語彙と集中力のなさから読むのが遅い上、英語で読むのは文学というよりエンタメ系の私ですが、文学でも比較的読みやすいシリーズを教えて下さいました。とてもフレンドリーで話し好きの先生ですが、一方的に話すことはなく私の話にもきちんと耳を傾けて下さる方です。謙虚で少しシャイな笑顔が素敵な先生です。同じ古いアメリカのドラマが好きだったり嬉しい発見もありました。４５分があっと言う間に過ぎました。

初めて話す先生だと緊張するのですが、聞き取りやすい英語を話され人懐っこい笑顔で朗らかに笑う方でリラックスできました。共通の知り合いであるカフェトーク講師のことから話が広がっていきました。先生はお菓子を作られるということで数日前にコーヒーロールケーキを作ったことを話すとさりげなく英語らしい表現や作り方に関する単語も教えてくださいました。英語ではロールケーキをSwiss rollと呼ぶそうで、てっきり山崎製パンの商標登録かと思っていたので、英語でもそう呼ぶのだと分かって良かったです。また、私が年末に観たドキュメンタリーについて話したり、先生もご覧になられたという最新版の「若草物語」と過去のバー...

頭も良く料理もお菓子作りも得意な上に優しい先生です。こちらのレベルに合わせて楽しく会話してくれます。文学専攻なので言葉もよく知っていて、添削してもらいたいときにも頼りになります。
