Know When to Use the Present Perfect Instead of the Simple Present or Simple Past

Detalles de la lección

The present perfect is more than just a frustrating area of中3英語 study; it is an essential verb tense that appears in most conversations with native speakers. Because Japanese has no forms corresponding exactly to the perfect tenses, native speakers of Japanese often find these tenses especially difficult to use correctly. Knowing the common formula "have + PP"  means that you can form the present perfect but not that you know when and how to use it in nuanced, natural English.

I hope you will join me for a lesson dedicated to answering questions like the following:
*What difference is there between saying that you have gone to Disney World and that you went there?
*Should you say that you are married for five years, have been married for five years, or were married for five years? In other words, are you asking the questions and giving the answers that you think you are?
*When should you use the progressive (-ing) form of the present perfect?
*Why should I say that I do not have children but that I have not seen a movie?
*Does "have" in the perfect tenses sound the same as "have" the primary verb?

I will provide reference materials, practice problems, and conversation exercises.

Note: If you want more practice with this topic, you can take the lesson more than once and request sessions that focus more on conversation with the concept, more on listening, or more on whichever aspect of the concept you want to practice. In other words, anyone trying the lesson more than once will get new material that emphasizes whatever he or she requests.
