Do you like to talk about what is happening in Japan and in other countries?

Do you want to express your opinions about current events?

Do you want to share your thoughts and views about global topics in English, but you are worried about your English ability?

Well, I completely understand how you feel!  These days, we all have opinions about world events and we want to express our feelings to others.  And it is a wonderful opportunity to improve your English speaking and listening.  Studying with textbooks and grammar lessons can sometimes become boring.  Using English to talk about real issues in the real world can be much more interesting and enjoyable.  The general lesson structure would be:

1. Ask student if they already have a preferred specific news story.
2. If not, share screen for Japan Today online news stories and student chooses.
3. Student can practice pronunciation by reading title and/or shadowing teacher.
4. If teacher is unfamiliar with topic, this is a great opportunity for student to speak and inform teacher about topic.
5. During discussion, teacher will ask many questions and record corrections and feedback in the textbox for student to review later.

Practice makes perfect, but not all practice is perfect unless you are making progress by building your vocabulary and finding your mistakes along the way.  I will never forget that this is a lesson and not just a discussion, so I will be listening closely in order to help your English get stronger.  We can talk about any news topics that you like, whether it be politics, movies, celebrities, food, health/medicine, sports, the economy, the travel industry, or anything you wish.

I hope to see you soon!
