On the Road: Traffic Rules, Fines, and Driving Culture (Level B2)

Driving in a foreign country requires not just a license, but a high level of language proficiency to navigate rules, interact with authorities, and understand road signs. This lesson is designed to bring your Russian to a professional and practical level.   

Who is this lesson for?

  • Level: B2 (Upper-Intermediate).

  • Students planning to drive in Russia or CIS countries.

  • Learners who want to master formal "official" Russian and complex grammar structures.    

What will we learn? We'll listen to traffic news reports or radio broadcasts about traffic regulations to practice speech recognition. Expanded Vocabulary: We'll learn terms such as speeding, license suspension, pedestrian crossing, and accident. Grammar Focus: Past participles in the active and passive voice. We will practice using them to describe events precisely, for example, "the driver who broke the rules" (active voice), "the rules the driver broke" (passive voice).

 Discussion: We'll compare traffic rules in your country and in Russia, discuss driving etiquette, and how to handle a conversation if you're stopped by a traffic inspector.
