This 40-minute online English lesson is designed for intermediate-level students who want to improve their speaking skills in a fun, relaxed, and interactive environment. Through engaging conversations, creative challenges, and role-playing activities, students will practise expressing their opinions, sharing personal experiences, and communicating confidently in English.
The lesson encourages you to expand their vocabulary, improve fluency, and develop their ability to respond naturally in everyday conversations. Activities are designed to keep students involved, encourage spontaneous speaking, and create opportunities to learn from mistakes without feeling pressured.

Lesson Structure (40 Minutes)
1. Warm-Up: Quick-Fire Questions (5 minutes)
Begin with a fun round of quick-fire questions to help the student feel comfortable and start speaking immediately. Questions might include “What is the strangest food you have ever tried?” or “If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you go?” Encourage the student to give detailed answers rather than responding with only one or two words.
2. Speaking Challenge: Would You Rather? (10 minutes)
Present the student with a series of interesting dilemmas, such as choosing between travelling to the past or the future, living without social media or television, or having the ability to speak every language. The student must choose an option and explain their reasoning. Encourage follow-up questions and friendly debate to develop conversational fluency.
3. Creative Activity: Tell Me a Story (10 minutes)
Give the student three random words or a surprising scenario and ask them to create a short story using the prompts. For example, the words could be airport, mysterious, and wallet. Encourage the use of descriptive language, past-tense verbs, and creative details. The tutor can ask questions to help develop the story further.
4. Role-Play: Real-Life Situations (10 minutes)
Practise everyday situations through interactive role-play. Scenarios could include ordering food at a restaurant, planning a last-minute holiday, resolving a problem at a hotel, or convincing a friend to try a new activity. Encourage the student to use natural expressions, ask questions, and respond spontaneously.
5. Wrap-Up: One-Minute Speaking Challenge (5 minutes)
Ask the student to speak for one minute on a light-hearted topic, such as their dream holiday, an unusual talent they would like to have, or the best day of their life. Finish with positive feedback, highlighting improvements in fluency, vocabulary, and confidence, as well as one or two areas to practise.
