General Notices from Tutor Manning

Thank you for your honest feedback

2026-10-05

Hi everyone,

Thank you very much to everyone who completed my anonymous student feedback survey. I really appreciate the time you took to tell me what is working—and what I could do better.

I received 26 responses, and the written comments were especially valuable to me.

A few themes appeared repeatedly.

Many of you said that you appreciate having plenty of opportunities to speak, being asked follow-up questions, and being able to have natural conversations without worrying too much about making mistakes. Several of you also mentioned that you value my corrections, lesson feedback, and suggestions for more natural English.

You also gave me some very useful ideas about what I could do better.

Based on your feedback, I’m going to work on:

• noticing more opportunities during our conversations to give you a useful word, expression, or more natural way to say something;

• giving you a chance to immediately try an important correction or new expression while it is still fresh;

• adjusting how much I correct, how quickly I speak, and how much guidance I give based on the needs of each student;

• occasionally checking in with regular students about short-term and long-term goals so that we are both clear about what we are working toward;

• continuing to give you plenty of time to speak while also sharing my own opinions, knowledge, and experiences when they can make our conversation more interesting or useful.

One of the most valuable things I learned from the survey is that different students want different things from me. Some want more correction; others value uninterrupted conversation. Some want challenging discussions; others want practical everyday English. Becoming better at recognizing and adapting to those differences is something I want to continue working on.

Thank you also for the constructive criticism. Anonymous feedback isn’t very useful if everyone feels they have to tell the teacher that everything is wonderful! Some of your suggestions made me stop and think carefully about how I teach, and that’s exactly why I conducted the survey.

If you haven’t completed the survey and would still like to share your thoughts, the survey will remain open. I’d be very happy to hear from you:

Most of all, thank you for trusting me with your English. I really enjoy our conversations, and I’m going to use what you’ve told me to make our future lessons even better.

Best regards,
