Hi everyone, my name is David and I'm from all over the U.S. (ask me to list all the places I've lived!). I also lived in Shanghai, China for two years where I learned to love teaching English and helping my students acheive their goals. I've even lived in the woods for five months, hiking the Appalachian Trail, a famous 2,187 mile trail across the United States.

So I'm passionate about hiking but also many other things--too many other things--including reading novels, writing novels, films, art, music, making websites, and learning languages. All of my interests make me a great conversation partner.

Teaching Style

I like to keep my students relaxed and engaged. Classtime should never be boring. My teaching style focuses on making you, the student, speak as much as possible. (I certainly don't need to practice!) 

If you take my English Personal Trainer course we'll balance all of the core language skills: reading, listening, writing, and speaking. (Check out the free trial!)

I also specialize in pronunciation training--I have a very clear radio-quality American accent. 
 

Education and Experience

  • Degree in English Literature from Middlebury College, a top U.S. school
  • 2 years classroom and tutoring experience teaching English to all ages in Shanghai, China
  • Certified TEFL/TESOL instructor from i-To-i
