Ciao! 初めまして、ジェルマナと申します。(^O^)
私の名前意味は友愛でございます。よろしくお願いいたします！
I am an archaeologist, I have lived for about three years in Japan, in Sendai. I am a nonconformist by nature, I love challenges and always learning something new from other cultures. I love traveling and especially the idea of going far. Born in Catania, Sicily, and moved since I was a child to Bergamo in northern Italy, I lived for five years in Rome, whereby various coincidences I became passionate about Japanese culture, in particular after got known about the story of the samurai Date Masamune, founder of Sendai and the first in Japan to send a diplomatic embassy to Rome. So immediately after obtaining the master of archeology in the Faculty of Letters and Philosophy of the La Sapienza University of Rome, I decided to try to move to Japan by first learning the language and then deciding to continue my studies in a PhD at the university.
 
My hobby is cooking and since I have been in Japan I have discovered how this passion, handed down to me from my family, could become a job and incredibly join to my university studies. Working part-time in Italian cuisine restaurants, I was asked to organize real private Italian lessons from simple informal chats about my culture with some clients. So I realized how exciting it was to teach my language to those fascinated by Italian culture. Since the study of a language is an integral part of a culture, when there is a desire to know the customs, history, art, or literature of a people, learning the language becomes much easier and more fun. In the eyes of those I taught, I saw myself again when I decided to study Japanese, a motivation that kept me going, without giving up.
 
The lessons can therefore be focused only on grammar rules, exercises, or conversations for who, like university students, are already studying the language and intend to improve, prepare for an exam, understand written texts, or learn to write formally and academically way; but all those who want to approach this language for the first time are more than welcome! Although Italian presents itself sometimes as a difficult language, I believe that nothing can stop learning those who carry a passion and curiosity with them. So it will be also organized cultural thematic lessons, especially for those interested in cooking, basic preparatory vocabulary, travel phraseology, or examples of everyday conversation.
