Hello! I'm Retselisitsoe - you can refer to me as Rt. I'm a TEFL/TESOL-certified English tutor and mentor with 5+ years experience teaching learners of all age groups and skill levels in both online and contact setups.
Amongst other tutoring aspects, I like to focus on English for business, culture, conversation, grammar and travel purposes. I am the perfect help for learners interested in improving reading, listening, writing and spoken English skills, whilst building necessary confidence to practise these in real-world situations. My hobbies include software development, traveling, reading and swimming.
In addition to my 120-hour TEFL credentials, I also hold the International Baccalaureate (IB) Bilingual Diploma, with English Higher Level (HL) being part of the course content I covered. I have taught primary-school learners with varying special needs at St. Bernadette Resource Centre for the Blind in Maseru, Lesotho. I have had the opportunity to assist high school and university-level students with their English language needs at Brawny Wit Tutoring Services in Johannesburg, South Africa, and tutored online learners of all age groups and aptitude levels on various subjects including English, in both countries.
I have garnered enough experience to have enabled me to develop diverse teaching strategies over the years. For example, I tailor memorable learning adventures for my students through safe, fun and engaging lessons that encourage active participation and foster deeper, meaningful relations between us. I am able to complement different levels of learning abilities, needs and preferences through emphasis on use of tactile, auditory, role-playing and various visual aids in preparing for lessons.
Furthermore, using both implicit and explicit continual assessment during lessons and for homework tasks – whilst putting in place appropriate remedial measures upon shortfall – has proved a crucial component of my quality-assured teaching style.
