My name is James and I live in Toronto, Canada.
I have 5 years of English teaching experience with adults and young learners
I love learning languages in my spare time (I am currently learning Japanese, but I would love to work on my Spanish too). I am a native English speaker from Canada, and I love to travel and learn about other cultures, and incorporating these things into my classes!
My teaching methodology is flexible and student led. I appreciate that every student is different and that there are many ways to explain a concept depending on a student's age, level, personality, interests, and native language, critical to that is incorporating my students' interests, passions and hobbies into our class as much as possible, and using them to explain the material! I use plenty of exercises, cards, games, toys, videos, and presentations to help my students, however I don’t use a lot of fancy bells and whistles that look impressive, but don’t actually help learning at all. I prefer to focus on the essentials.
