Hello everyone, my name is Joy.
I am a new tutor here, よろしくお願いします!
Let me introduce myself.
I am originally from the Philippines, and currently living in Hawaii, US.
Back in my country, I finished my Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and thereafter finished my degree in law. Law school was challenging but fulfilling.
I woked as a Corprorate Paralegal for a finance company and also an online English tutor to Japanese students, I worked for two Japanese companies, one based in the Philippines and the other based in Osaka, Japan. I was a working student back then.
I migrated to the US June 2022 and the rest was history. Currently, I work as a Finance Management Clerk in Hawaii.
Now, I am back!
When I was teaching online, I enjoyed having conversations with my students whether they be a child, teenagers, young adults, and old adults. They have so much to share about their culture, daily activities, schooling, philosophy, hobbies, and anything under the sun. I miss them sometimes!
I learned much about the English language because of reading and writing. It improved my vocabulary, reading, and writing skills. To boost my confidence in speaking English, I either practice in the mirror or talk with someone in English. I encourage my students to do the same if they are eager to learn the language and be confident.
Therefore, my teaching involve:
1) Reading a news article/any article with the student and conversation about the article. This challenges the student's comprehension, vocabulary, and pronunciation skills.
2) English Conversation/Free Talk about any topic helps boosts confidence. While having conversations, I will be correcting students with their grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation.
