Hello! I'm Evelyn. I have been living in Japan for 6 years now.
I'm an artist and English language teacher. In college, my focus was Chinese and Japanese language and literature. I'm really passionate about linguistics, so I also study different American dialects. I speak Standard American English in lessons, but I would also love to teach basic African-American Vernacular English (AAVE). Learning the basics of AAVE could help you understand your favorite rappers and rap lyrics. If you're into American hiphop culture, basic AAVE, Black history, and Black culture are great to look at! I'll more than gladly help you learn more about it.
I also practice photography and plan, film, and edit YouTube videos in my free time. I like to study body modification, plants, and romantic literature/art. And I love horror movies! Spooky things are my absolute favorite. I'd love to talk about them with you.
As I think it is most helpful and fun to study language through topics you already enjoy, my lessons will mostly deal with understanding quotes from movies and books. We may also look at American folklore and urban legends to better understand American culture.
