INTRODUCTION
Hi! I’m Tana Monk—a native English teacher specializing in helping kids and teens master reading, grammar, and confident conversation. With my 160 hours TEFL/TEYL certification and 8+ years of experience teaching students from Poland to China, I’ve learned how to make English fun and effective for both young and adult learners. As an American-Filipino who’s lived in Canada, the USA, the Philippines, and New Zealand, I bring a global perspective to lessons. When I’m not teaching, you’ll find me playing baseball (yes, I’m a National Team player!), coaching softball, exploring new foods, or cuddling my dogs. Let’s turn language hurdles into victories—your confidence starts here!
TEACHING STYLE AND LESSONS
- I specialize in teaching students from 5-18 years old. - I also offer classes to adults who want to improve their travel English, business English, everyday English, and more! - I understand the struggle of learning a new language. Currently, I am doing my best to learn Tagalog. So, I can relate to the ups and downs of learning. My experience allows me to give you tips on how to learn efficiently and quickly.
Once you schedule your trial lesson, I will assess your oral speaking, and we can talk about the areas you need to work on. Even if you decide not to take more lessons with me, this trial will give you an excellent idea of where you need to improve! My courses focus on Reading, Writing, Speaking, and Listening. I can help you improve these skills through visual materials, including short readings, dialogues, listening tasks, comprehension questions, and discussion time. Mock tests and homework may be given as well.
