I'm Mei!

Juf Mei means Teacher Mei in Dutch.
You pronounce it “Yuf Mei.


 What I want to do on Cafetalk 

To make suitable learning for the learner together with the student

Everyone wants to know new things and be able to do new things.
That is very common because new things excite people all the time.

But people
are different from each other.

The differences are for example not only what you want to know and what you want to be able to do.
But we also are different which causes you to go in a false in the process of learning.
The suitable way of learning for the learner is not same as well.

So, it is very important that leaners make good use of own features for own learning.
I think it is quite important to learn while making the best use of your strengths
and to learn in the learning environment that works to your strengths.

However, such learning could be in existence by learner’s motivation.
I can’t let the learners who don’t have motivation to learn completely, learn by compulsion.
But possibly, I can help change the negative motivation such as “I must learn this…”
to positive motivation such as “After this learning, which possibilities do I have? So, I want to learn!


I would like to help language learners
so that they can learn in suitable ways,
improve their motivation for leaning
and realize their potential to 120%
with my warm heart and great wish.



【 My experiences 

private teaching as a part-timer for 2 years
teacher on primary school for 3 years
learning on Dutch teacher’s training program for 1 year

Since a little child I’ve grown up with many generations from children to adult people. When I was a junior high school student I had an experience to think that personality is made during the primary school’s time. So, since then I have had an interest in education. The one year between the graduation from high school and the entrance into college, I used to try grasp myself very frequently. After becoming a college student, a question about Japanese school education became very clearly. The question was why students only learn with students of the same age at school although people cooperate with other generations on their works after they graduate from school. One day, I saw a TV program on a Dutch primary school and then I thought that I have to come there. This and that, I came to the Netherlands.  My Dutch boyfriend whom I met unexpectedly, learns Japanese by himself. I respect him a lot, while he learns it very hard with pleasure. Such an attitude makes me think that there much more people than I expect in the world who want to know and learn Japanese language and culture. I’m afraid that he doesn’t need any help from me for his Japanese learning because his would rather be self-taught. However, I made my decision to get a broad experience in teaching with new learning styles because I’m starving for the contact with as a teacher. Then I found out about Cafetalk. Now I’m very excited to have lessons here and to make good use of my skills.

The contents and the way of learning are personalized

The cycle of my lessons
1.Introductory lesson
At first, we have an introductory lesson so that we get to know each other and start my normal lessons without worries. To do that please let me know about your learning situation as much as you can in the introductory lesson
the introductory lesson ”Level check & counseling for Japanese learning”.

Your goal of Japanese learning
What you are able to do now in Japanese learning
Which problem(s) you have in Japanese learning
How you learn Japanese usually (materials, how to use, how long and how often)
What you expect during my lesson

Based on what we have talked in this lesson, we decide how to learn and what to use.
There are possibilities to change the way of learning in my lesson because of the student’s growth. In that case, we can talk again about more suitable way of learning so that you can learn better and flexible.

In this introductory lesson, I also would like to listen to your question about me.

2.Preparing for my lesson
Based on what the learner and I have decided, I prepare enough for the next lesson. The student prepares or learns solo for the next lesson if it is needed as well.


3.Normal lesson
Let’s study together along with the understanding of the student and his/her motivation.
The student can ask me any questions anytime during this lesson.

4.Reflection
After the normal lesson, we reflect on each other what you think was good and/or what I could improve about the lesson.
Please give me feedback via the Feedback function. If you take my lesson again, then I could improve my lesson for you with your feedback!

 Start without introductory lesson is possible
A person who wants to begin lesson right away or who don’t want to take the introductory lesson, can take a normal lesson the first time.
However in that case, I can try to learn the personality of the student and what the student needs only during the lesson. Therefore it could lower the quality of the lesson compared with students who take the introductory lesson.
But I will do my best to support the student very good during the lesson even in the last case!
