Hello! My name is Mariana, and I am a Brazilian Portuguese teacher from Rio de Janeiro. I have been teaching Portuguese online since 2020, working with adults and teenagers from different countries and cultural backgrounds.
My professional journey has always been connected to language, communication, and education. Before teaching online, I taught children and teenagers at a non-profit organization and worked as an intern in an elementary school. Earlier in my career, I translated animated programs and also worked as a lawyer.
Although I followed different professional paths, teaching was always the work I felt most connected to. I love the Portuguese language, and I genuinely enjoy helping people understand it, use it confidently, and build a meaningful connection with Brazilian culture.
I hold a degree in Pedagogy and postgraduate qualifications in Conference Interpreting and Psychopedagogy. My lessons are personalized according to each student’s level, interests, and goals. We can work on conversation, grammar, pronunciation, vocabulary, listening comprehension, and Brazilian culture.
I especially enjoy helping students who have Brazilian partners, relatives, friends, or a personal connection with Brazil. I am a calm, patient, and welcoming teacher, and I want my students to feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and progressing at their own pace.
When necessary, I can provide explanations in English. I would be very happy to help you communicate more naturally and confidently in Brazilian Portuguese. I hope to meet you soon!
