Hello, my name is Simon. I am originally from Canada, and I have previously lived and worked in Toronto and Hong Kong before settling in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
I hold a 120-hour TEFL certification and have extensive online teaching experience, including working as an online English tutor on DMM Eikaiwa since 2020, where I have maintained a rating of 4.8 out of 5. Through thousands of lessons with Japanese learners of all ages and proficiency levels, I have developed strong listening skills, patience, and a friendly, relaxed teaching style. Prior to online tutoring, my professional background was as an independent filmmaker, university researcher, and lecturer, which gave me a deep appreciation for communication, storytelling, and academic discipline.
I want to teach on CafeTalk because I enjoy creating fully customized, flexible lessons tailored to each student’s individual goals—whether that means natural spoken English, discussing cinema and literature, or building confidence for academic and professional growth.
