This lesson is designed for intermediate students (B1 level) who are ready to move beyond basic survival Russian. This level is a major milestone: it is the official requirement for international students entering Russian-speaking degree programs. If you want to discuss your opinions, analyze news, or understand the nuances of Russian culture, this is for you.

Topics and Content: 

At the B1 level, we focus on complex communication and structural accuracy. Our training covers:

  • Advanced Grammar: Complex sentences (using который, чтобы, хотя), verbal adjectives (participles), and gerunds—the hallmarks of academic Russian.

  • Expressing Opinion: Developing the vocabulary to argue, agree, disagree, and summarize information from texts or movies.

  • Professional & Academic Writing: Learning how to write formal requests, cover letters, and essays with a clear logical structure.

  • Listening & Reading: Working with unadapted short news clips and literary fragments to build high-level comprehension.    

Teaching Techniques:
Strategic Exam Prep: We focus on the "logic" of the B1 exam. 
 
Active Vocabulary Building: We shift from "knowing" words to "using" them. We practice replacing simple words with sophisticated synonyms to score higher in the "Speaking" and "Writing" sections.                               
Materials Used:
Authentic TORFL-B1 (TRKI-1) test matrices and official training manuals.
 
Media resources: Short clips from Russian news and contemporary talk shows.    Required Skills:
Students should have a solid grasp of the A2 level (basic cases and verb tenses). B1 is about refining that knowledge and adding complexity.
