Description
Understand grammar more deeply — and learn to use it in real communication
Recommended Level & Readiness
Target: Higher elementary and junior-high students
Prerequisite: Students should be able to read ordinary lesson materials comfortably. It is strongly recommended that students complete the prior courses before taking this one.
Recommended level: Approximately EIKEN Grade 3 / CEFR A2 or equivalent
This level is more grammar-intensive than the earlier courses and is best suited to students who are ready to think about abstract language concepts, sentence structure, and grammatical terminology.
Grammar in Communication
Grammar is not studied only through translation or worksheets. Students practice using each structure in conversations, role-plays, problem-solving activities, and realistic situations.
Lessons help students understand how a grammar pattern works, notice how meaning changes, and then use that structure more independently in speaking.

Example Grammar & Communication Topics
- gerunds and infinitives
- frequency and "How often?"
- rules and obligations with have to
- too and enough
- giving advice with should
- present continuous and irregular past tense
- future plans and predictions
- modals and expressions of certainty
Students also practice functional language such as describing problems, offering help, apologizing, forgiving, and giving compliments.
More Independent Language Use
At this level, students are expected to do more than repeat model sentences. They begin to analyze language, make choices, explain ideas, and produce their own sentences using the grammar being studied.
Activities may include sentence-building challenges, advice-giving, role-plays, interpreting situations, and choosing the most appropriate language for a particular context.

Homework & Japanese Support
Optional homework and supplementary materials are available. Homework may include grammar review, vocabulary, sentence-building, reading, or short writing activities connected to the lesson. Students are strongly encouraged to complete the homework.
Because some grammatical concepts can be difficult to understand through English alone, Japanese explanations may be included in homework or supplementary materials when helpful.
Recommended for students who are ready to understand how English works — and use that knowledge to communicate more accurately.
