Description
Practical English for real workplace communication
Recommended Level
CEFR: B1–B2
TOEIC: Approximately 600–850+
This course is designed for intermediate learners who can already communicate in English but want to become more natural, professional, and confident in workplace situations.
This course is not suitable for complete beginners.
Functional Business English
Rather than focusing only on business vocabulary, this course teaches the language functions needed to handle real conversations professionally and naturally.
Each lesson is generally built around a practical communication goal, such as making a request, explaining a problem, giving someone a choice, or responding appropriately in a difficult situation.
Most lessons also include useful grammar, vocabulary, and expressions connected to the main communication goal.
Example Lesson Topics
- making polite requests and asking for permission
- giving bad news, apologizing, and explaining problems
- discussing future plans and workplace responsibilities
- giving choices, making decisions, and suggesting solutions
- handling complaints and difficult conversations professionally
Lessons may include role-plays, short dialogues, workplace scenarios, discussion, vocabulary development, and structured speaking practice.

Grammar, Vocabulary & Communication
Although communication is the main focus, lessons also help you develop the language needed to communicate accurately.
Depending on the topic, we may work on:
- useful business and everyday workplace vocabulary
- grammar for expressing meaning clearly
- polite and indirect language
- natural conversational expressions
- pronunciation and sentence stress
- ways to clarify, correct, or reformulate what you say
The goal is not simply to learn a grammar rule, but to use that grammar naturally to accomplish something in a real conversation.

Workplace Culture & Communication
Effective international communication involves more than correct English. We may also discuss cultural expectations, politeness, communication styles, and how the same message can be interpreted differently across cultures.
This can be especially useful for students who communicate with international colleagues, customers, clients, or business partners.
Practical Speaking Practice
You will have many opportunities to use the target language through role-plays and realistic workplace situations.
Rather than only answering business questions, you may need to:
- respond to a colleague
- explain a mistake or misunderstanding
- delegate a task
- make a recommendation
- negotiate or choose between different options
I will help you make your responses sound clearer, more natural, and more appropriate for the situation.

Build the English you need to handle real workplace conversations with confidence.
