Social Skills & Strategies

Communicate naturally, respond appropriately, and manage more complex conversations

Recommended Level & Readiness

Prerequisite: It is strongly recommended that learners complete the earlier courses before taking this one. Spontaneous speech and proactive participation are required.
Recommended level: Approximately EIKEN Pre-2 or equivalent

Students should already understand the main grammar taught in junior-high school and be ready to focus on using that English more naturally and independently.

Beyond Grammar

Knowing the correct grammar is only part of successful communication. Students also need to know what to say, how to respond, and how to keep an interaction moving.

Students practice choosing appropriate expressions, reacting naturally, solving problems, and maintaining longer conversations. Lessons combine more advanced grammar and vocabulary with role-plays and practical communication tasks.

Communication Skills & Strategies

Activities may include:

  • responding to unexpected situations
  • making and responding to suggestions
  • negotiating plans
  • explaining problems
  • requesting clarification
  • making polite complaints
  • giving reasons and explanations
  • comparing possible solutions
  • working together to reach a decision
  • using more natural conversational expressions

More Natural, Independent Communication

Students are increasingly expected to generate their own ideas and responses rather than rely on model sentences.

They will practice adapting their language to different situations, responding to what another person says, and using communication strategies when a conversation does not go exactly as expected.

For students who know the grammar — and are ready to become more capable, flexible, and natural communicators.
