Lesson Objectives:
- Establish a positive repertoire between the student and teacher through standard introductory questions.
- Introduce habitual greetings, designations and phrases commonly used by varying native English speakers (focus: dictation, pronunciation, comprehension and cadence).
- Progress discussion into more personal questions regarding interests and/or hobbies.
- Present the design of the "mind-map," or "verbal brainstorming" exercise.
- Find a subject/topic/idea of mutual interest.
- Assign a small research assignment (read one article) based on the aforementioned topic of agreeance, including the task of asking the 5W1H questions (Who? When?...How?) regarding the topic.
- Establish a formal relationship with the student.
- Integrate the perspective of the international context of English language usage.
- Reach beyond initial formalities into the interest of the student as well as sharing my own.
- Demonstrate the utility of a free-flowing conversational exercise in the form of the "mind-map."
- Find commonalities between the student and myself.
- Form a mutual correspondence on a potentially new topic for each of us to explore with a platform for the following lesson.
