By the end of this lesson, students will be able to
Basic Level:
- Identify at least three common English phrases used to introduce themselves (e.g., "Hi, I'm...", "Hello, my name is...", "Nice to meet you, I'm...").
- Produce at least two of these phrases to introduce themselves to a partner.
- Understand simple follow-up questions after an introduction (e.g., "How are you?" and "Where are you from?").
- Respond appropriately to at least one simple follow-up question.
Intermediate Level:
- Distinguish between formal and informal English introduction phrases (e.g., "How do you do?" vs. "Hey").
- Employ at least two different introduction phrases appropriate for different social contexts (e.g., meeting a classmate vs. meeting a potential employer).
- Initiate a short conversation after introducing themselves by asking a relevant follow-up question.
- Comprehend and respond to a wider range of follow-up questions after an introduction (e.g., "What do you do?" and
"What are your hobbies?"
Advanced Level:
- Analyze the nuances and cultural implications of different English introduction styles.
- Adapt their introduction style to suit various cultural and professional settings.
- Facilitate introductions between other people using appropriate phrases.
- Engage in extended conversations following introductions, demonstrating active listening skills and asking thoughtful follow-up questions.
Overall Lesson Objectives (Applicable to all levels, but with varying degrees of mastery):
- Communicate basic personal information effectively in English.
