This lesson will focus on practising pronunication and mastering the difficult sounds of the English language.
Kursinhalt
Aim of the lesson: To practise and master the difficult sounds of the English language by reading out loud a text. The accent chosen for the pronunciation will be based on the student's preference, be it received pronunciation (English accent), or an American accent.
Task 1: Student will read out loud first sentence of a text chosen by the teacher based on the student's level. For example, for beginners we will read from Harry Potter, for Intermediate, a news article, and for advanced, a text from Sherlock Holmes.
Task 2: Teacher will correct any mistakes in pronunciation and repeat the correct pronunciation to the student by showing specific mouth, teeth and tongue movement.
Task 3: Student will repeat the same sentence as before, but this time with the correct pronunciation.
Task 4: Repeat tasks 1,2 and 3 for the rest of the text, until the 30 minutes of the lesson are finished.
Follow-up (homework for next lesson): Based on the mistakes made, the teacher will prepare for the next lesson specific exerices to help with the student's specific mistakes of pronunciation. Also, student will write down these repeated mistakes and practise correct them at home. These mistakes will be tested at the beginning of the next lesson.
