General Needs Analysis.
1. Warm Welcome.
Ask a light opener:
“How are you today?”
“Where are you from?”
2. Student Introduction.
Invite the student to share about themselves.
For example:

“Have you studied English before?”
“When do you usually use English?”
3. Needs & Goals Discussion.
Guide the conversation with open questions:
“Why do you want to learn English?”
“What situations do you want to use English in? (Work, travel, study, daily life?)”
“Do you prefer speaking practice, grammar, vocabulary, or listening?”
Take notes on their answers.
4. Short Mini-Activity.
Do a simple, level-appropriate activity to check their skills:
Beginner: Practice greetings or simple Q&A (“What’s your favorite food?”).
Intermediate: Short roleplay (ordering in a café, introducing themselves to a new friend).
Advanced: Small talk about hobbies, interests, news, or travel.
5. Wrap-Up & Next Steps.
Summarize what you learned about their needs.
Explain how you can design lessons for their goals.
Ask if they have any questions.
