Figuring out what Americans are saying is already a bit of a challenge....but when you add slang to it...you find yourself, even more, lost.. right? And slang words don’t always mean what you would normally think. It could sound like a totally different language, even to some Native English speakers, if you don't understand their meaning.
Slang usually start with one person or TV character that people think is COOL!!!. Words made up by a country's president or a big company usually don’t turn into slang that everyone uses. But words made up by football stars, characters on TV shows or the most popular people in school tend to catch on. This is because people want to act and sound like that person or character. Learning the local slang would help a lot to blend in the community and be accepted by the locals.
