◆About me
Hello! I'm Japanese tutor Kaya. Thank you for seeing my introduction.
I'm a cirtificated teacher graduated an university receiving a bachelor in intercultural communication studies and Japanese education as a second major, I'm currently working as a Japanese teacher for several shools and companies.
I'm really passionate about linguistics and phonetics. They have been always been my passion ―because it's so fascinationg to know how we all have this interesting invention of "language" and how each language has different and unique ways of capturing the world! I'm also on my lerning jorney of Japanese as my first language, and other languages such as English. If any of you are also interested in seeing our languages through the liguistic perspective, I'm happy to share the magnifying glass with you, to have a look at the language deeply!
I also enjoy music, art and exploring new places to find nice restaurants and "hidden jams in Tokyo".

◆About my lessons
I believe that the keys to mastering a foreign language are:
-Building a solid understanding of the basics.
-Getting used to the natural pronunciation.
-Practicing common "chunks" (phrases).
-Learning vocabulary through topics that matter to you.
-Gaining plenty of input by listening.
-Understanding the logical differences in grammar.
In Japanese, every grammar point has its own "personality," "emotion," and "companion grammar" that it likes to hang out with. To speak naturally, it is important to understand these connections rather than just memorizing rules.
My lessons are perfect for you if:
-You want to learn natural Japanese (not just "Anime-style").
-You want to express yourself with delicate, nuanced Japanese.
-You want a logical explanation of how Japanese grammar works.
Japanese conversation has unique traits, such as:
-Meanings change based on pitch and length of sounds.
-Sentences often flow continuously without a clear "end."
-Adjectives and nouns are more frequently used than verbs.
If you’ve ever felt like your jokes didn't land, or your Japanese sounds "correct but a bit unnatural," the secret often lies in these subtle nuances.
In language learning, literal translation isn't always enough. In my lessons, I aim to provide feedback that goes beyond words—I want to help you with "Cultural Translation" as well.
