Suja Tutor Profile
Hello everyone!
My name is Suja. I am an experienced, professional English teacher who is TESOL-certified, IELTS teacher-trained and a CELPIP instructor. I've been teaching English online for eight years now.
I have completed the IELTS Teachers Program and coach students online both in Cafetalk as well as independently.
In addition to IELTS, I also help students studying for EIKEN and CELPIP.
Besides teaching English, I am also a Curriculum Specialist. I have worked designing and writing curriculum for the education sector for both vocational and university syllabi, and now develop and design curricula on a freelance-basis in addition to offering consulting advice to other teachers.
My original field of specialisation was in Chemical Engineering. I worked as a chemical engineer for over a decade before making the transition into education.
My technical background, coupled with my experience with schools and English language certificates, offers a balanced blend to teach and design programs for work professionals who may be looking to level up their proficiency at work as well as English language learners.
How will my lessons on Cafetalk help you?
The lessons I have designed on Cafetalk are aimed at increasing your confidence, fluency and command of the English language.
Many of my lessons have been designed as a lesson pack but there are solo lessons that you can take before you decide to move yourself over to a lesson pack.
I'm also happy to customise a separate program for those of you who have specific learning objectives. For example you might be looking for lessons to improve communication, attend an interview, chair a meeting or give a presentation. Some of you might wish to practice 2-way conversations for when you travel or speak with other native speakers.
Whichever your preference, please let me know what your goals are during our consult lesson, and I'll customise a program for you or propose a better method of study.
I also offer writing classes. My writing lessons have helped students prepare well for their IELTS and EIKEN proficiency exams, as well as academic exams.
Some of you who may prefer a stress-free approach to pen your thoughts, and for this you might wish to consider my 15-day Journal Writing Program, which is a great experimental writing space to master your writing.
How do I sound?
I have a near-native level of English and speak with a very clear accent. I am also flexible to adjust my pace of speech, to speak either slowly or fast, to suit your preference as you study with me.
My focus will be on what is important for you , which is to ensure that you achieve your goals effectively and keep up with the language practice.
Do I offer counselling lessons?
Absolutely. If you prefer , I'll be happy to arrange a counselling session with you to discuss which lesson might suit you best. Simply drop me a message through Cafetalk! Alternatively, I offer an English Consult which you could use to discuss your current learning strategies with me and we can create an alternative study plan for you.
What do I do outside of work?
I love long nature-trails, theatreworks and art festivals. I also travel whenever I can! Apart from this , a disciplined weekly activity I engage in is urban sketching and watercolour art where I meet weekly with a group of sketchers to sketch the city where I live in.
