About the Mates feature & Frequently asked questions

Q What is the Cafetalk Mates feature?
It’s a feature that allows you to manage Cafetalk points and members collectively within groups such as families, companies, or organizations.
Q What are the benefits of using the Mates feature?
Administrators can smoothly transfer points (assign/withdraw) to members. By separating accounts, members can also accept requests during the same time slots.
Q How do I invite new members? Can I invite people who are already registered as students on Cafetalk?
Administrators can send invitations via email. Invited users can join the Mates group by registering or logging in via the URL in the email.
For family accounts, as long as the student account is not already part of another Mates group, you can invite users who are already using Cafetalk.
Organization accounts can only invite email addresses that are not already registered on Cafetalk. Each member must start with a new account using the invitation link.
Q I accidentally created a Mates account with the wrong account type. Can I correct this?
If it’s been less than one hour since creation, you can change the account type from “Family” to “Organization/Company” or from “Organization/Company” to “Family.”
For changes after this time, please contact Cafetalk Support.
Q I want to change the Mates group name or account type. Can I edit these?
The Mates group name can be changed within one hour of creation.
For changes after this time, please contact Cafetalk Support.
Q It’s hard to manage members using their Cafetalk display names. Is there a better way?
Go to Mates Dashboard > Members > Click the member you want to change, and you can change their display name (and, for corporate accounts, their management ID).
*Changing the display name in Mates does not affect the member’s actual account.
Q Can an administrator request lessons on behalf of a Mates member?
No. For security reasons, members must submit requests themselves (using their own accounts).
If a parent wishes to request a lesson on behalf of their child, they must log in and out of the child’s account each time.
Q Can an administrator view communications between Mates members and tutors, or contact tutors?
No. For security reasons, administrators cannot view communications with tutors (such as comments or attachments) or contact tutors.
