Description

Warmer: Find the phrasal verbs. I will give the student 8 sentences and will ask them to find examples of phrasal verbs in the sentences. This will allow me to see what the student already knows in relation to phrasal verbs and will ease the student into the topic at hand. The duration for this exercise will be 3 mins.

Presentation: Here I will present the grammar points surrounding phrasal verbs. I will describe what a phrasal verb is and break down the three different types of phrasal verbs. I will also present examples to the student in order for him/her to gain a full understanding of the rules associated with this grammar point. The duration of this point of the lesson will be 15 mins. 

Practice: At this stage of the lesson, I will give the student two exercises. The first exercise will be about selecting the right option. The student will get ten sentences which will have two phrasal verbs. He/she will have to select the correct option for each sentence. Once the student finishes this question and is happy to move on, I will give them an exercise where they have to use phrasal verbs with pronouns. Again there will be ten questions here and it will challenge the student as they will have to use the correct form of the phrasal verb. This will last for 15 mins. 

Production: I will have a conversation with the student using the phrasal verbs learned in the lesson so far. I will also attempt to get the student to use as many phrasal verbs as possible. I will ask about 5 - 8 questions and it part of the lesson will last 10-15 mins. 

Cooler: I will give the student 5 examples of phrasal verbs and he/she will have to create five sentences using these examples. I will also take any questions the student may have concerning phrasal verbs or any topic that was discussed in the lesson. 

Learning Outcomes: The student will be able to identify a phrasal verbs and explain the three different types. Not only will the student be able to explain the types but he/she will be able to use them appropriately as well as using them correctly with pronouns.
