Description

This lesson will focus on vocabulary related to live entertainment.

Warmer: The beginning of this lesson will consist of a speaking exercise that will allow the student to talk about different forms of live entertainment. I will ask a few questions here in order to get the student ready for the lesson ahead. This warmer will last 5 mins.

Listening: I will give the student a very quick listening exercise. The student will have to match up the speakers with teh correct form of entertainment. I will play the recording twice. This stage of the lesson will last 5 mins.

Vocabulary: This will be the main focus of the lesson. I will give the student over 20 new vocabulary words. I will go through the meaning of these words with the student and will show them pictures if they are unsure of a word. I will also point out the stress syllable for each of these new words. Once this is done, the student will have to put these words into two columns. These two columns are plays/musicals/concerts and sporting events. Once this exercise is completed, it will be corrected and I will address any concerns the student may have. This will last 20 mins.

Speaking: This stage of the lesson will focus on the student having a conversation about live entertainment. I will ask the student 5-10 questions here. The aim of this is to get the student to use some of the new vocabulary they learned in the previous exercise. This part of the lesson will last 10-15 mins.

Listening: I will play a recording that talks about a very unusal play. Before this task, I will get the student tp read a short introduction about the play. There will be two exercises for this listening. The first task is putting four pictures in the correct order as they are talked about in the listening. The second task is 10 questions where the student will have to answer true or false. I will play the recording twice and will address any concerns the student has. This part of the lesson will last 10 mins.

Cooler: A sort revision exercise where I will give the student a number of definitions and they will have to guess what the word is. These words will be the new vocabulary studied in the lesson. This will last 5 mins.
