Description

This lesson will introduce the student to the causative verb 'Have Something Done'. 

Warmer: The warmer will involve the student looking at different professions and responsibilities. The responsibilities will be mixed up. The student will have to match the profession to the correct responsibility. Not only will this give me an idea of the student's knowledge related to this vocabulary, but it will also ease the student in to the topic of 'Have Something Done' as these are the types of professions that one with use with this type of causative verb. This warmer will last 2-3 mins. 

Presenation: Here, I will introduce and present the grammar topic 'Have Something Done'. Here I will explain what the grammar topic is. I will then focus on the rules, uses and structure before giving examples of this grammar point to the student. I will answer any questions that the student may have and will ask CCQs to see if the student is able to follow the topic at hand. This stage of the lesson will last 10 mins. 

Practice: Two exercises will be given to the student here. The first exercise will consist of ten sentences. Each sentence will be scrambled up. The student will need to rearrange the sentences and put them in the correct order. Once the student has completed the exercise, I will go through the answers by asking the student for them. Once the student is happy to move on, I will present the second exercise to the student. Here, the student will be given ten pictures and ten questions. The student will have to write sentences about the pictures using the words given. Again, I will help the student and answer the questions once the exercise has concluded. This stage of the lesson will take 15-20 mins. 

Production: This element of the lesson will be a speaking exercise. I will presents a number of questions to the student here and ask them to discuss these questions with me. We will discuss these questions and will push the student to use the causative construction that he/she has just learned. I will also expand on the conversation and will give and explain any new vocabulary that may come up during the conversation. This stage will last 10-15 mins. 

Cooler: I will give a short grammar exercise to the student. They will be presented with 6 sentences with each sentence containing two endings/parts. The student will have to pick the correct part to finish the sentence/ This will give me an idea what the student has learned. This will last 5-8 mins.
